First Prototype Report and Presentation!
Deadline
Presentation due on Nov 1, 2021 during status update time. Report due on Nov 5, 2021 at 11:59:59 PM (Only one submission per group).
What you need to do?
There are two parts in this assignment: presentation and a report.
Presentation
You need to make a professional presentation (any software of your choice but has to be professional, I recommend not to use Prezi) for a 12 min talk given by all the members of the team. The split for what part is presented by which student is upto your team to decide. Keep the slides with minimum text, more media content is highly encouraged with a good set of animations so as to not overload the observer. You can treat the class slides as an idea of text to media ratio. Media can include videos and images. Use softwares like Photoshop or draw.io or Corel Draw to make high quality images. Use a good camera (a good phone camera with protrait mode if needed) to capture compelling photos of your project to be used in slides. This talk is for an expert in the field, keep it technical. You can use the FIRE Summit template provided
here as a starting point (recommended to download this and use it in Powerpoint rather than Google Slides).
I will grade you not only presentation quality but also attention to detail and how creatively you present your approach.
Report
You also need to make a high conference/journal quality report on the progress made so far. It should include the following (with appropriate section headings):
- Informative Title
- Names of the team members along with affiliations
- Abstract
- Introduction
- Related work (this has to be up to date with proper reference indexing and formatting following IEEE standards, you can use .bib files to make your life easier). You should also have appropriate descriptions of the papers cited.
- Problem Definition and Contributions (state your assumptions or simplifications made here along with your contributions)
- Methodology (add approporiate section titles)
- Experiments (along with evaluation methodology and results: images and/or tables)
- Conclusions
- Distribution of work amongst team-members on the entire project, not just the report/presentation.
I will grade you on the content and presentation quality of your report, particularly images, math, algorithms and related work.
What you need to submit?
Presentation
Your presentation file in the format it was made in (for example this would be
.pptx if you used Microsoft Powerpoint) along with a live presentation session during the deadline time indicated above.
Report
A report in double column IEEE format (maximum of 6 pages) in LaTeX per group compiled into
.pdf.
I will deduct 25 points if I get multiple submissions from the same group (submitted by more than one person from your group not multiple iterations submitted by the same person).
Your report should be of
this quality in-terms of content detail (with appropirate math and algorithmic details). Particularly, I expect the report to have mathematical equations (typeset in LaTeX not images obviously) describing your approach. If your approach is more algorithmic,
then use algorithm (or some other similar package) package in LaTeX to format algorithms.
Your report should include the aforementioned sections as well.
You can use any LaTeX tool you like, I would recommend
Overleaf as it is free and you can use it to collaborate online. If you are new to LaTeX, you can
learn from this awesome tutorial from Overleaf. Alternatively, if you want to work locally, you can use any of
these editors. The LaTeX template can be found
here.
Submission File
Both the presentation file and the report should be zipped together and submitted via ELMS.
